Why do emails from other members look different than they used to?
FPF made changes to protect member information.
You may have noticed a change in how email communication works when someone responds to a posting on Front Porch Forum. We are aware that scams and phishing have become a regular occurrence in online spaces. So, in an effort to enhance your privacy and security, FPF has made a change to protect members’ personal information.
When someone reads a posting on FPF and clicks the "Email Author" or "Contact Author" button to respond, they won't see the author's personal email address. Instead, the message will display the FPF member's name, and their email will be anonymized, showing a string of random characters followed by @mail.frontporchforum.com. The message will also have a “footer” at the end, explaining that it is Front Porch Forum correspondence.
If you choose to exchange further emails, the poster's and responder's personal email addresses will both be revealed, such that you can continue an ongoing email correspondence.
