When should government officials use the "Urgent Announcement" category?
Share time-sensitive updates with your community quickly and effectively.
Front Porch Forum offers a dedicated "Urgent Announcement" posting category to help local officials get the word out quickly about critical local issues. This feature is available at no cost to members using a Government profile and is designed to support public safety and rapid community response.
You should select the "Urgent Announcement" category when you need to share highly time-sensitive information with your neighbors. Common examples include:
- Boil water notices.
- Unexpected road closures or severe traffic disruptions.
- Emergency shelter options or evacuation notices.
- Severe weather warnings or disaster response updates.
How it works
When you submit a posting using the "Urgent Announcement" category, FPF staff are notified immediately. Provided the information is indeed critical and time-sensitive, our team typically publishes a special issue of your local Forum within 15 minutes during regular working hours.
To ensure your message catches the attention of your community, the posting will feature a bright red "Urgent Announcement" badge and will appear as the very first item at the top of the Forum issue sent directly to your neighbors' inboxes.
