Expectations for Journalists using FPF

Local Journalism and Front Porch Forum

As per FPF’s rules for all members, journalists have access to the forum where they live, and to the forum where they have an office (if relevant).  Journalists are not permitted to join other forums (where they do not live or have an office) for the purpose of reading postings.

FPF’s Terms of Use generally prohibits reproduction of member content without FPF’s permission. However, given their role in promoting healthy local democracy, FPF welcomes  journalists to quote from postings and report on discussions on the forum as long as they adhere to the following expectations.

Journalists using FPF are expected to:

  1. Ask permission: ask for an FPF member’s consent before quoting them, including how they prefer their name and affiliation to be written.
  2. Cite your source: make sure to indicate Front Porch Forum as the source of the information when quoting from member postings.
