Why doesn't the Contact Author button in my email Forum work?
How to use and configure browser email links
“Contact Author” buttons in email Forum issues use “mailto” links. If the button does not work for you, try each of the solutions below:
Copy and paste email links
- Right-click (or press-and-hold on mobile devices) the "Contact Author" button.
- Choose "Copy Email Address" (or similar).
- In your email client, compose a new email.
- In the new email, right-click in (or press-and-hold) the “To” field.
- Click / tap “Paste.” The email address you copied should appear in the “To” field.
- Delete any extra text in the “To” field.
- Finish composing your message, then click / tap your email client’s “Send” button.
Configure your browser to use email links
Email (or "mailto") links are special web links that open up a new email message with the recipient’s email address already filled in. The instructions to set this up will depend on your device, email client / provider (e.g. Gmail, Outlook, or Apple Mail), and browser (e.g. Chrome or Firefox).
